Q: How do I prepare for the start of my kitchen remodel?

A: Surviving Your Remodel: 8 things you should know

  1. Cover doorways into other rooms with plastic to keep ultra-fine dust and debris from entering.
Our crews do clean-up daily, prior to leaving your project however be prepared for “dust”…unfortunately there is no way to avoid all of it… after all your home is
    “UNDER CONSTRUCTION”
and it is important to understand that the process is noisy, dusty, and inconvenient for a short time.
  2. Pack everything that won’t be needed into boxes . This will keep things dust free.
  3. Ready all appliances for removal: Don’t forget to remove items from your refrigerator & dishwasher…prior to removal.
  4. You will be without water in your kitchen through this process…Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to set up a “temporary” kitchen in another part of your home, and be able to utilize another sink to wash dishes if needed. “Don’t be shy”, we can help you with this! Your refrigerator, microwave, an electric 2 burner cook-stove is a good idea to have.
  5. Keep essential items handy : Basic foods that are microwavable, condiments, cereal…coffee, cream, sugar not to mention your coffee maker. Also paper plates, and cups, paper towels and napkins as well as, microwave-safe dishes and utensils.
  6. Stock up on restaurant coupons and take out menus , as you will be doing a lot of eating out and ordering in… during these periods of construction.
  7. Manage pets & children: Daycare, Pet-Boarding, Planned outings, Use of Neighbor’s yard: it’s important to understand that during the construction process, our crews must be moving “in and out” of your home…and while they are present on the site, doors and access areas leading to the construction site will be left “unlocked and sometimes open” to aid in the construction process.
It is important to be proactive and plan “away time” for your children and pets whenever possible during this period. If such options are not available for them it is important to have “secure areas” in your home, for your pets and children to stay that are “away from the construction site”, and not dependant on the same access ways.
  8. Finally, Relax, Be Patient, Get Ready For Your New Addition! You’ll be so glad you did!

Q: What parts of the construction require my presence at home?

A: We’ll let you know when you need to be available…”don’t worry” we’ll assist you with these times.

Q: What is the basic process or flow of my project?

A: Your contractor will give you a “Flow Chart” of the process of construction. It is a good idea to read and familiarize yourself with the process so that you can better understand any requirements that your contractor may need your assistance with.
